  • Job Description

    Position: Program Director

    Location: Columbus, Ohio

    Organization: SOAR Academy (Summer Program powered by Flyt Athletics & The Flyt

    Foundation)

    Schedule: June 2 – August 15, 2025 (includes pre-camp orientation)

    Compensation: $700/week

    Role Summary:

    The SOAR Academy Program Director will serve as the on-site leader, overseeing the daily

    operations of the summer camp program. This individual will supervise staff, manage camp

    schedules, coordinate activities, support camper safety and wellbeing, and ensure the

    mission and values of SOAR Academy are embedded into every aspect of the camp

    experience.

    Key Responsibilities:

     Lead and manage day-to-day camp operations for approximately 30–35 campers

     Supervise Academic Enrichment Specialists, SOAR Leaders, and Junior SOAR Leaders

     Oversee daily schedule execution, transitions, and activities

     Foster a safe, supportive, and inspiring camp environment for campers and staff

     Communicate regularly with families, providing updates, support, and addressing

    concerns

     Support staff training, orientation, and professional development during the summer

     Coordinate with community partners and guest speakers as needed

     Assist in incident management, conflict resolution, and safety protocol enforcement

     Help with weekly newsletters and updates to families

    Qualifications:

     Prior experience in youth program management, education, summer camps, or similar

    settings

     Strong leadership and team management skills

     Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

     Highly organized, flexible, and committed to positive youth development

     Ability to maintain a professional, faith-rooted, purpose-driven atmosphere

     CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)

  • Job Description

    Position: Academic Enrichment Specialist

    Location: Columbus, Ohio

    Organization: SOAR Academy (Summer Program powered by Flyt Athletics & The Flyt

    Foundation)

    Schedule: June 2 – August 15, 2025 (working Monday–Thursday)

    Compensation: $120/day

    Role Summary:

    The Academic Enrichment Specialist will deliver theme-based educational programming to

    students ages 5–14. Using an engaging, hands-on approach, the Specialist will help enhance

    camper skills in reading, math, science, and language arts while aligning lessons to SOAR

    Academy’s weekly themes. Specialists rotate based on subject expertise and may work 1–2

    days per week depending on scheduling needs.

    Key Responsibilities:

     Deliver academic enrichment sessions in math, reading, science, or language arts

     Align lessons to weekly camp themes and camper age groups

     Prepare engaging, interactive activities that foster learning and curiosity

     Collaborate with Activity Director and Program Director for seamless scheduling

     Support positive behavior and classroom management strategies

     Incorporate creativity, games, and project-based learning into instruction

     Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

     Participate in team meetings and contribute to camp culture

    Qualifications:

     Bachelor’s degree in Education or currently licensed teacher (or similar field)

     Strong background in elementary or middle school education (grades K–8)

     Experience working with diverse student populations

     Passion for working with youth in informal or out-of-school-time learning

    environments

     Excellent communication and collaboration skills

     CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)

  • SOAR Academy Interns (Ages 14–19):

    1. Junior SOAR Leader (Youth Camp Support Staff)

    Assist with supervising campers during daily activities including educational workshops, physical fitness, and creative arts.

    Help facilitate group games, lead small group discussions, encourage positive camper behavior, and assist with daily setup and cleanup.

    Gain valuable leadership, communication, and teamwork skills while earning community service hours or internship credit.

    2. Administrative Support Assistant

    Assist camp leadership with organizational tasks such as attendance tracking, creating camper materials, preparing for family events, and assisting with newsletters and flyers.

    Help maintain communication between staff and families by posting updates and distributing information.

    3. Event and Program Assistant

    Support special events such as field trips, weekly themed days, guest speaker workshops, and fitness sessions.

    Help prepare supplies, assist instructors, manage activity stations, and ensure camper safety during transitions.

    4. Creative Arts Assistant

    Assist in facilitating arts, journaling, and creative projects with younger campers.

    Encourage expression through various media (visual art, writing activities, poster design, etc.).

    General Expectations for Interns:

    Be positive role models for younger campers.

    Display professionalism, teamwork, and respect for camp policies.

    Take initiative while supporting daily camp operations under the guidance of SOAR Academy staff.

    Interns will receive training and mentorship during their time with us.
